About the new EP: I’ve written many songs about wanting more but In The Belly Of The Feast is about wanting less. In the spring of 2013, I was feeling overwhelmed by the godawful noise on the news. My private life was confusing and I had no idea where to put my left foot next. So, instead of decision making, I tied a red bandana around my head and wrote these five songs. I played some of them in dive bars with a string band that loved rock and roll. When that band closed up shop I put these songs away.

I think this is a good time to bring them out again. I’ve struggled recently to feel useful as a singer-songwriter, a tiny voice bouncing off an enormous wall of ugliness, but these songs feel useful to me. These are agitated songs, peace-seeking missiles, and I want to get them out of my head. I want to keep walking forward and leave a record of what has happened.

CREDIT: A giant thank you to my friends who contributed to this album. Ben Cosgrove played keyboard on "Holiwar" and "The Music Won't Stop". Tony Petersen played electric guitar on "John Wilkes Booth" and "The Music Won't Stop". Sam Bolen sang and screamed on "The Music Won't Stop".  Malia Chan provided photography and calligraphy. Catherine Epstein and Kasia Zieminska generally tolerated my noise-making around the house.
